Check out this article written by Howard Blackson in Better! Cities and Towns for a refresher on mixed-use development.  Blackson discusses how mixed-use development has taken on different meanings and forms in the past 40 years.  Yet, he states there are really three forms that should be considered mixed-use development:

  • Vertical Mixed-Use Building
  • Horizontal Mixed-Use Blocks
  • Mixed-Use Walkable Neighborhoods

For more details on each of the mixed-use development forms and to read his full article, click here.
